Governor Rick Snyder said, “to build a stronger Michigan, we must build a healthier Michigan.” The Affordable Care Act is giving us a huge opportunity to build that healthier Michigan by extending insurance coverage to more Michiganders through Medicaid.
As of 2010, approximately 1,086,000 nonelderly Michiganders were without health insurance. Medicaid expansion would increase eligibility to 1.2 million people, about half of whom are currently uninsured.
Michigan will experience a net savings of about $1 billion if it expands Medicaid.
Medicaid expansion is a crucial piece to build a healthier Michigan in order to build an economically stronger Michigan!
