State Representative Carrie Rheingans (D-Ann Arbor) reintroduced her legislation (HB 4407) in May 2025, which would create the MICare program.

The MICare program is a universal, publicly funded health care system for all Michigan residents. It removes barriers to healthcare by eliminating deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays or caps. This program would also help to eliminate the decision power that insurance companies having over patients and allow patients to choose their doctors and providers. MICHUHCAN endorses MICare and its program initatives. We believe that healthcare is a universal right that should be accessible.
