At its August Board meeting, the MichUHCAN (Michigan Universal Health Care Access Network) Board of Directors supported mandatory masking and vaccinations for the safety of all healthcare workers and to protect members of the community. The health of the community is a collective responsibility. Being required to wear a mask should not be seen as an infringement of an individual’s personal freedom, rather it must be seen as a protection of the entire community’s freedom to be safe from the scourge of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Though healthcare workers were the primary focus of the Board, members also had consensus that universal mask mandates and vaccinations were also supported, as needed.
MichUHCAN is a state- wide non-profit education and advocacy organization organized in 1990 to promote comprehensive, quality health care for ALL.
